Junior Composers challenges talented music students to transform performance and creativity into a fuller expression of themselves.  Music theory and composition are put into practice with student-led music-making in partnership with outstanding professional artists.

Since 2002, students from accross the country have attended our residential summer camps for composers age 14-20.  Junior Composers is sponsored by the North Central Region of the National Federation Club.

Junior Composers is a program for students who want to develop their music composition talents. Students are expected to compose at least one work during each week of the Studio while attending camp under the mentoring of our professional faculty.  The program ends with a live salon performance of their new work

All of our prgrams are held at Ferguson Hull, home to the University of Minnesota School of Music, at Minneapolis, MN.  It’s a state-of-the-art facility with wireless access throughout, a music technology lab with 14 work stations and Sibelius and Finale notation software, 70 security-monitored practice rooms, four small ensemble and three large ensemble rehearsal rooms, the Ultan Recital Hall, and “smart” classrooms.
