Emily Vomacka blogs from Paris & the EAMA
The European American Musical Alliance is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this summer and JCI Alumna Emily Vomacka (JCI '02, '03, '04, '05, '06, '07, '08) is there to experience it. The Composition Program is held at the historic Schola Cantorum in Paris, France - and the program is taught in the tradition of the legendary Nadia Boulanger. Composer Philip Lasser is the director of the composition program and on the faculty at the Juilliard School.
Emily's blog serves as a window into the experience of a young female American composer studying counterpoint, solfege, harmony, score-reading, choral singing, music analysis, composition, and masterclasses with composer Jonathan Dawe. Catch up with Emily and peek into the kind of teaching experienced by Aaron Copland, David Diamond, Virgil Thomson and a generation of cornerstone American composers.
