Junior Composers challenges talented music students to transform performance and creativity into a fuller expression of themselves. Music theory and composition are put into practice with student-led music-making in partnership with outstanding professional artists.
Studio – July 9-21, 2012
A two-week residential summer music camp for students age 14-20 who want to develop their music composition talents. Core features: seminars and master classes with a guest composer, a reading by the Artaria String Quartet, score analysis, a field trip to the Minnesota Orchestra along with all of the features of the Institute.
Songwriters Institute - July 14-20, 2012
A week-long residential summer music camp for students age 14-20 who want to explore the art and craft of songwriting. Core features: songwriting groups, 2-hours of music theory/ear-training every day, readings of new string quartet works by the Artaria String Quartet, compose and perform a new song, daily sessions with guest artists, field trips.

A two-day celebration of creative work by Junior Composers alumni. Core features: a field trip to the Minnesota Orchestra, and an alumni salon demonstrating creative work.
