2012 Junior Songwriters Institute
July 14-20, 2012
We think no challenge is too difficult if you have the right help and a plan. Our staff and faculty are the help you will need. The plan is "the schedule."
THE SCHEDULE
In advance, online:
Find out what you know about music theory (coming soon)
During the Songwriters Institute (Saturday, July 14 through Friday, July 20, 2012):
- Breakfast (7-8am), lunch (Noon-1pm) and dinner (5-6pm) at Middlebrook Hall
- Music theory, song forms and aural skills from 8-10 every morning
- Individual work on your schedule from 10am until 4pm every day
- Writing combo sessions for 90 minutes every day
- Salon with guest artists every day at 4pm
- Seminars with songwriter in-residence, Andy Thompson, on Monday and Tuesday
- Ice cream social at Annie's Parlor Tuesday night
- Demo-taping on Wednesday and Thursday
- Coffee shop preview performances on Thursday night
- Songwriter Showcases Friday at 9am and 1pm
- Special evening activities throughout the week
Families who want to eat lunch with their students can place a reservation for the Festival Lunch on Friday, July 20 at 11.30am between the two Festival Songwriter Showcases. Reservation information will be sent to students in June 2012.
